word of mouth

all i can say is, for me, word of mouth has been the only way i have ever gotten into a gallery, exhibition, and most times sold art. so i owe a big thank you to cynthia who has put in a word and by dint of that, i am for sure in a show march 13th. below you can see one of her beautiful watercolor paintings that is for sale on etsy, as well as one of the soon to be highlights for the eco/green show in conroe, texas. the gallery is the Linda Watson Art Gallery on main street. yesterday i went in and showed some work (which i was able to leave there thank you!) and will bring more in by the 1st of march. while the show will only last a week, and it isn't a large gallery, they are interested in carrying at least one piece on an ongoing basis. Jean and Joe are the owners and have also started a saturday outdoor market that could be another possibility for my smaller works come nicer weather. it was good to get out and have a positive reaction to my puzzle work and mixed media assemblages. beacon of hope....

Yay Paula! You are so on top of things...having your camera there, posting a link...here's to our successful show! Thanks for the mention and the link as well! I totally agree about word of mouth...I know I've sold more that way than any other. So if the show starts on March 1st, and the reception is March 13th, it has to be at least TWO weeks!

hey cynthia, it didn't occur to me about the time...for some reason i was thinking that is when he wants the work, not necessarily hanging it up...its all good. we will have fun :)

I agree with you about making gallery connections-- it does help to know someone connected to the gallery.
about the collage exchange, thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment---I left you an answer to your question in the comments section.

Oh wow Paula, this is great news! Such a great looking gallery too. Cynthia's work is beautiful.
The worst part of making art a business for me is the marketing and it seems most artists feel that way. I've been doing a group coaching program with leslie Miller and we were all saying exactly the same thing. We would rather create art and have someone else do the marketing.

thanks robyn for being happy for me. as for marketing, i guess its like anything else we have to learn/know and do it because we need to take responsibility for our lives and all that hard work we put into our discipline. i'm sure it just gets easier the longer were at it.
